August 12-31, composer Kate Moore will work in her residency on the Ossenlied, which is part of her research project A Beautiful Path.

Het Ossenlied (The Ox Song) is a 54-day hike across Netherlands, England, Wales, Ireland from Oss to Skellig Michael through Oxford to compose an epic story cycle set to music. Inspired by troubadours and epic poets of ancient times, following in the tradition of the Tain, Edda, Mabinogion and Beowulf and the Canterbury Tales, composer Kate Moore is inspired to write her own story cycle while long distance walking and composing with a lyre and vielle that she carries with her.
There are musical public activities with Kate Moore and guest artists from composer walks to a kinetic workshop to a music marathon and a final work-in-progress presentation of the Ossenlied with Herz Ensemble on Saturday, May 31. The exhibition Desire Lines by Isabelle Vigier is open during the residency.

Gaudeamus exhibition announcement …Talloze componisten lieten zich voor hun muziek inspireren door de natuur. Schilders als Vincent van Gogh maakten hun kunstwerken zelfs staande in het landschap dat ze inspireerde, weer en wind trotserend. Als een hedendaagse troubadour laat Kate Moore haar nieuwe muziek nu rechtstreeks in de natuur ontstaan. Op de donderdag van het Gaudeamus Festival opent ze met een performatieve presentatie de expo. Daarna is de tentoonstelling nog langer te zien in Movement Exposed Gallery Space…
